The gray whale gave off a small speedboat by moving it out of the water off the coast of Mexico. Tourists in attendance and social media site ViralHog posted footage of what appeared to be an unexpected joke.
The incident occurred on Tuesday (8), off the coast of Guerrero Negro, in Baja California Sur, when passengers were surprised by an impulse on the boat and noticed a whale resting under the underside of the boat.
The huge marine mammal gently lifted the speedboat onto its back and propelled it toward the sea, a moment that tourists described as enjoyable – despite the danger.
In an interview with the New York Post, American tourist Laurie Barra, who watched the whale’s performance, said: “I’ve been there many times and it never happened!”
According to Lowry, the adventure took place in a whaling lake, where tourists can take a boat to view and interact with them somewhat. Before moving the speedboat, the gray whale was playing with the passengers trying to get his attention.
“She was having a great time coming to us for food and kisses,” Laurie said of the 30-ton animal. Then the “nice” whale appears to be friendly to the visitors by pushing the boat.
“She’s taking us for a ride,” the tourist said in the footage, and can be seen putting her hand in the water as the whale pushes the boat. “I can’t believe this,” he added.
The shots end with the huge marine mammal descending into the depths of the lake from which it came.
“She lifted our boat twice gently on its back and swam with us,” he said. “It was fast enough to make its way through my fingers.” “She waved her pectoral fin at me when I left our boat. It almost touched my hand.”
On the other hand, the unusual ride wasn’t the whale’s only charming stance as it interacted with humans, according to another witness to the episode.
A tourist who was on the same speedboat with Laurie commented in another social media post that the huge creature was staring at him gently underwater. “She turned to look at me a few times and we had a soul-to-spirit experience between two mammals,” he said.
