The days of fake medical certificates may be numbered. Established the CFM (Federal Council of Medicine). Attest CFMA digital platform for issuing and verifying medical certificates. The new feature will only be mandatory from March next year, but will start working on November 5.
Brazil’s official platform for issuing and validating medical certificates (physical and digital), under the auspices, management and approval of the CFM, must guarantee immunity against fraud and be valid throughout the national territory.
“To this end, a unified base will be created in the country, integrating all platforms that provide these documents, creating a network that will be updated in real time, with the ability to verify the authenticity of medical certificates,” says CFM.
The normative scope of this initiative was provided by Cabinet Resolution No. 2382/2024, which establishes this new solution and expands protection for doctors, citizens, and companies through Internet platforms and applications.
What changes?
It is free to use and all participants – doctor, patient and company – will be able to verify the authenticity and history of the documents.
With Atesta CFM, certificates can only be issued through the platform and added to the system by clinicians, who must identify themselves with a digital certificate or CFM credential.

The solution will then automatically notify the patient and, with permission, the company he or she works for.
According to the initiative, when a company obtains a certificate, the doctor will also be notified and may cancel the document if there is suspicion of misuse of its professional registration.
It is important to note that in the case of manual filling, the platform will print blocks that will have an expiration date and paperwork identified by a security code. The doctor can then include the handwritten information into the digital solution.
