Goiás is banned from registering players for six months due to a debt of R$719,698.32 with Goianésia. The penalty was set last Friday by the CBF’s National Chamber for Dispute Resolution (CNRD).

The debt points to the sale of striker Michael de Goiás to Flamengo in early 2020. To mark the move, Goianésia sold 5% of the economic rights it still held to Goiás and received €500,000 in three installments.
According to Marco Antonio Maia, President of Goianésia, Esmeraldino moved the first two, but not the third, which was to expire in February 2021.
The problem ended up in the National Dispute Resolution Chamber (CNRD), and according to Goianésia, Goiás pledged to pay R$719,698.32 by September 20, but did not do so.
