Current Director of central bank (B.C.E), Gabriele Galipolois scheduled to be announced as the new mayor in August, according to information from O Globo columnist Lauro Jardim.

The announcement date was suggested by Fernando Haddad By the current President of BC, Roberto Campos Neto.

Campos Neto reportedly said that if the announcement was made sooner, power in the monetary authority would be divided long before the end of the term. On the other hand, if it was left until the end of the year, it would make it difficult to have a good transition.

The current president’s term ends on December 31 of this year, and his successor will not take office until after the Senate’s approval.

From July 4 to 19, Galipolo actually replaces Campos Neto during the holiday period.

Campos Neto wants a transition “as smooth as possible.”

Earlier this year, Campos Neto already said he hoped the transition to the central bank presidency would be “as smooth as possible.”

“I think this change from one government to another and the next government speaks badly about the other, and we have an uncivilized transition, which is very bad for the institutional part of Brazil,” he said at the 10th edition of the BBI Brazil Bradesco Investment Forum.

He also estimated that it would be an idea to hold a hearing for the next mayor before the end of the year.

“It would be nice to do [a sabatina] This year, otherwise you’ll move on to the next year. There’s a problem, because my term ends on the 31st. [de dezembro]If a director were to become interim president, he would have to go through a hearing as well, but then there would be no hearing, because Congress is closed.”
