The minister also explained that once the fourth wave was identified in the state, the government implemented containment measures.

“The response measures taken by the state of Espírito Santo, together with the municipalities, are aimed at reducing the impact of the spread of the virus, breaking the chain of transmission, and allowing the state and the health system not to contract the virus in a situation that could prevent the population from accessing health services.”

Nicio also noted that the country is experiencing a moment of acceleration in the case curve, and that given the latest data, it is believed that there will be much more infected than has been seen throughout the pandemic.

“Only seven municipalities in the state reach an incidence rate of more than double digits in the number of cases per 1,000 inhabitants. In this way, we realize that there is still a margin, and the possibility of the behavior of the case curve, much higher than that observed so far. The time across the state” .

Seven municipalities with a high infection rate

In addition, most of the other municipalities are in a “clear acceleration phase”, while others, about three days ago, started to show greater growth in the case curve.

“We advise municipalities that still do not show a strong trend of growth in the curve, to insist on targeted mitigation measures throughout December, so as not to reach large numbers of infected, which may harm outpatient services and also the possibility of having fewer patients in hospital. In the intensive care unit and wards designated for those affected by the Covid-19 virus.
