Broken record! Flamengo beat Madureira 3-0 on Saturday, becoming unbeaten Guanabara Cup champions. The match recorded the highest number of spectators in Brazil this season, with 60,292 fans (63,422 in attendance) at the Maracanã. The numbers generated an income of R$ 2,321,970.50.
Until then, the attendance record was the Recopa Sul Americana match between Fluminense and LDU, played last Thursday, with 56,050 fans in attendance (61,217 present), at the Maracanã. Tricolor beat the Ecuadorian team 2-0 and won the unprecedented tournament title.
The Maracanã was also the scene of two Rio Classics that recorded the third and fourth largest crowds in 2024. The goalless draw between Vasco and Flamengo was attended by 54,130 fans, and Flamengo 2 x 0 Fluminense sold nearly 52,000 tickets. Both matches were in favor of Campeonato Carioca.
Gre-Nal appears in fifth place in the rankings. The Gaucho classic was attended by 50,400 fans and ended in a 3-2 victory for Internacional in Beira Rio. Check out the top ten below.
