FIFA has allocated 32 clubs in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025, for the inaugural edition of the men’s tournament. The format is similar to the World Cup with 13 European teams and six South American teams.

The definition was approved at a meeting of the FIFA Council chaired by Gianni Infantino in Kedah, Saudi Arabia this Sunday.

The 2025 Club World Cup will feature the participation of continental champions and other teams classified by ranking. The limit is two representatives per country. The Libertadores champions from 2021 to 2024 have already been classified. Thus, Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense are already guaranteed. Also Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City are recent Champions League winners.

The tournament takes place midway through the Brazilian season. Also, the Premier League could start four weeks after the World Cup final. It will start five days after the June FIFA date. And it is played at one period of the year, like the World Cup, European Championship and Copa America.
