Filipe Luis earns Flamengo first win in Brazil U-20 Championship

In Salvador, Flamengo beat Bahia in the Brazilian U-20 league.

In a match within the competitions of the 12th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, Flamengo defeated Bahia 2-0, on Tuesday (02). Thanks to two goals scored by Nigerian striker Shola, the victory at the Municipal Stadium of Retor Edgard Santos in Salvador ensured the first positive result for Filipe Luis at the top of this category.

Flamengo opened the scoring in the 26th minute of the first half. After a quick move down the left, Ogundana Shola fired a low shot that gave Bahia goalkeeper Pedro no chance. However, even after taking the initiative, the Red Blacks did not give up on their attacking moves. It is no surprise that they scored again ten minutes later in the 36th minute.

After Bahia’s attacking move, Flamengo regained possession and Felipe Teresa passed to Shola from the left. Similar to the first goal, Shola fired a low cross for Mingao’s second. In the second phase, Mingao continued to control the tempo of the match, but the score ended 2-0.

Felipe Luis’ first victory

After winning the Rio U17 Cup, Filipe Luis took over the U20 category. In the former left-back’s first participation, Crias do Ninho ended up being defeated by Fortaleza, in Javea, 3-0, on June 26 (Wednesday). In other words, Filipe got his first win against Bahia on Tuesday (02).

With the positive result, Crias do Ninho reached 19 points in the Brazilian League, rising to fifth place in the league table. Now, Filipe Luis’ men turn their attention to their next commitment.
