The so-called “Faria Lima”, a street in São Paulo that houses the offices of the country’s main banks and financial intermediaries, who at first resisted Fernando Haddad, has now stopped turning his attention to the Minister of Finance, according to Estadao.
Even among the most critical of President Lula, Fernando Haddad is now seen as a potential ally on economic policy in the current government. According to the newspaper, “the perception is that he is the only person in Brasilia who can compete for the Workers’ Party, in its crusade to expand expenditures, and to gain the support of the president.”
says Ricardo Lacerda, founder and CEO of investment bank BR Partners, which announced its vote for former President Jair Bolsonaro, in the second round of the election.
Haddad was open to dialogue with those who began negotiating with him, and he was curious about different points of view. The minister also came to be seen as the only voice to oppose President Lula, whether it was win or lose, and his efforts were then recognized by businessmen and bankers.
Haddad’s most common criticism is regarding the conduct of negotiations with Congress.
