Family hospitalized after eating poisonous mushrooms

On Friday the 11th, an Amish family was hospitalized in Beech Bottom, Pennsylvania after consuming poisonous mushrooms harvested from a forest.

The victims included one man, one woman and nine children aged between 1 and 39. Local authorities confirmed this information.

According to the magazine AmericaMushrooms were collected in the forest and consumed during dinner, which caused discomfort to all present.

Local television station KCBY reported that one of the family members walked about half a mile to a phone booth to call emergency services because the family did not have a phone.

Emergency crews were rushed to the scene and eleven people were treated at a nearby hospital. All were treated and released overnight.
