The project was held at EE Maria da Glória Muzzi Ferreira in partnership with a public university
In Dorados, the partnership between María da Gloria Mozi Ferreira State School and academics from the extension project “Schools in the Stars of Dorados” at UFGD (Federal University of Grande Dourados), has enabled students in the second year of high school to understand concepts of physics, chemistry and engineering based on design and construction. Launching rockets made from PET bottles.
Professor Joyce Menezes explained: “During this workshop, they had the opportunity to explore the fundamental scientific concepts that govern rocket flight, understand how action and reaction exist in every launch, and uncover the secrets of the propulsion that drives these amazing flying machines.”
Held on September 14 and 21, under the supervision of UFDG professor Isabella Guedes Martínez and academics Leticia Vasquez, Michael Sanchez, Vitor Augusto Pérez and Mayara Villalba, the students first learned about the history of the missile and understood, in theory, how to build an artifact. Then preparations were made, the launch was made, and the necessary corrections were made for the missile to reach the required height.
“The PET bottle rocket workshop provided a hands-on and fun experience for the students, bringing them closer to science and technology in a fun way. In addition to teaching important concepts, the activity stimulated creativity, teamwork and critical thinking, and motivated them to Seeking knowledge in related fields.
