Many people consider Jorge Jesus one of the most important technicians in history Flamingo. In about a year in charge, between 2019 and 2020, the coach won five titles and is sorely missed by fans to this day. But there are people who were not always happy with the Portuguese coach.
One such case is Vinicius Sousa. Defensive midfielder, revealed in Robro Negro and who played last season on loan at SpanishParticipated in Charla’s podcast This Tuesday (20) and remember the difficult reaction he had with Jorge Jesus at the beginning of his career.
“It’s always been with me, jacket for starters, I’ve spoken to the general of my family, and today it’s going…at first notice. From start to notice.” Corinthians, Aaron won’t play, Pierce won’t play, call me, ‘go’… I’m talking to everybody, go now, I’ll play, I’ll play. I stayed in the cabin. From the beginning? no one. Just Carioca and look there, because it was Mauricinho. Promise only, equal vice. He just promised me, and then I got mad at him, this guy doesn’t love me at all.
Due to the uncertainty, Vinicius admits that he sometimes considered leaving Flamengo and that the only reason he didn’t move early was because of the coach, who, although he didn’t use him much, saw in him a future star.
A suggestion came up and he said, “What do you think?” Where are you going? No no. I will make you the best midfielder in Brazil.” He actually refused. I said “What is that?” “I spent a whole year like that.”
And all of this was just a learning experience. Nowadays, almost three years after he was sold by the club from Rio de Janeiro to defend Limel, from Belgium, the player sees everything Jesus did for him. He credits his former coach for all the success of his career.
“He was like a father. If I got to Europe today and I adapted, it was a lot because of him. I adapted to Europe at Flamengo. He was a big daddy. I got mad at him, sometimes not, he fought with me. I got mad, he said he’d put me down, he wasn’t.” … There was this thing. The general knows these things. He was a different man who was very important in the beginning.”
