Madagascar authorities have made their selection and will receive aircraft from Embraer and Boeing for domestic, regional and long-haul flights. The announcement was made on Friday by President Andry Rajoelina during the opening of the National Investment Forum in Ivato, Reported to local media.
“We have already closed a partnership. The company’s fleet will be enhanced by Embraer. The device will arrive soon”, The head of state said in front of an audience of guests at the Ivato International Convention Center.
It has not been announced which model the Madagascar state-owned company will list. In March, the Brazilian manufacturer took a demonstration flight with Malagasy authorities and executives of Air Madagascar. The Embraer 190-E2 flew between Antananarivo and Antsiranana.
According to the government, this new aircraft is intended for domestic and regional flights, i.e. national destinations and Indian Ocean islands.
“It will serve several locations from north to south, from Tolagnaro to Nosy Be, Antsiranana. It can establish connection with Mauritius, Reunion and even Dubai”Rajoelina said. And for long-haul flights, he announced the arrival of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner soon.
