In the co-main event of UFC 287, held at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida (USA), Gilbert Durinho better than Jorge Masvidal Welterweight by unanimous decision and shortened the distance to fight for the belt in the division again.

This was the Brazilian’s ninth win in his last 11 fights in the UFC, and his second in a row.

The first round started with both fighters studying each other a lot and keeping their distance before trying to land their first blows. Only in the last seconds did Durinho get the takedown, but soon after the attack came to an end.

In the second round, Durinho landed a high on Masvidal on the spot, took his opponent to the fence and knocked him down again. The fight began to stumble to the ground, as the Brazilian tried to surrender, but the American resisted until the end of the second round.

In the last and third round, Dorinho hit Masvidal more than once in the face, who remained standing. In the end, the Brazilian brought Masvidal back to the floor, until the fight was over and Gilbert won with scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28.

“I’m the only one in the entire UFC who would like to fight anyone, anywhere. However, Leon Edwards, Colby Covington, anyone for the belt, I’m after you. I’ll take any fight,” Durinho said after the victory.

Masvidal, in turn, who had already indicated a possible retirement in the event of a defeat in the fight, confirmed that, in fact, his career in the UFC was terminated.

“I love everyone here. I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart. It’s been over 20 years in the profession. I love this sport, I’m a millionaire. Before, I had nothing. I’m out, Miami to finish.”
