Major ABC cities have begun making the bivalent vaccine available to residents to fight Covid-19. These vaccines increase immunity against the original strain virus as well as the Omicron variant. Earlier this month, Flávia Bravo, director of the SBI (Brazilian Society for Immunization) spoke about the importance of people continuing to follow the Covid vaccination schedule, even as the number of cases is declining. The estimated audience at this point is 52 million people. In March, the task force should ramp up Covid vaccination for all residents over 6 months of age, specifically to increase compliance, with actions in partnership with public schools.
In Santo André, the application began on Saturday (25th) in patients’ homes. Starting Monday (27), bivalent immunization will be available at 35 UBSs (Basic Health Units) in the city, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., for residents 70 and over. To receive the vaccine, you must have had at least two conventional doses of the vaccine and respect a 122-day interval between them.
In São Bernardo, the immunization of first priority groups with the new version of the vaccine against Covid-19 has been available since last Friday (24). In this initial phase, bedridden and sedated persons over the age of 80, indigenous people, residents and staff of ILPIs (Long Stay Institutions) will be vaccinated. The new version of the vaccine was approved by Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) in November 2022.
In Diadema and Mawa, vaccination starts from Monday (27). According to City Halls, seniors over 70 should be vaccinated; persons over 12 years of age who live in a shelter at the ILPI and work in these institutions; immunocompromised; Native units on the banks of the river and Quilombola. At Diadema, Dosing will be available at all 20 UBSs, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. In Mawa, the application will be submitted at 23 UBSs in the municipality, from 9am to 4pm – Florida, Magini and Zaira units operate from 9am to 8pm.
If the elderly person has mobility difficulties, a family member should contact UBS to schedule and carry out the vaccination at home. In São Caetano, the city council reports that the bivalent vaccination has begun with elderly people over 80 years of age who are immunosuppressed from 12 years of age. The first phase started on Saturday (25th) in all UPS. From Monday (27), the municipal garage (Avenida Presidente Kennedy, 2100, Bairro Olímpico) will also be available.
