This Saturday (12/16), Disney broadcasts the final show of Paul McCartney’s Brazilian tour. The “Got Back” tour ends with a show at the Maracanã Theater in Rio de Janeiro, starting at 9:15 p.m. It will be broadcast on two streaming platforms: Disney+ and Star+.
In the show, after more than 30 years, the singer returns to the stage and achieves a historic record with the audience. In April 1990, his show brought 184,000 people to the Maracanã, a figure that became the largest paying audience ever recorded at a stadium in the world.
Retirement rumor
Given the special importance of the venue to the former Beatle’s career, the presentation is accompanied by a lot of speculation. Rumors even suggest that the singer may announce his retirement on the show. After all, the artist is currently 81 years old and his music career has already crossed the 60-year mark.
Suspicions increased with the arrival of Paul’s wife, Nancy, in Sao Paulo to attend performances last week. Moreover, the musician’s eldest daughters, Marie and Stella, will attend their father’s last concert in Rio de Janeiro, as well as American star Matthew McConaughey and businessman Guy Oseary, who is responsible for managing Madonna’s career.
And there are details: Paul McCartney has no further shows scheduled abroad after this.
Before the show in Rio, he performed in Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, São Paulo and Curitiba, including a warm-up show in a 200-person club in the federal capital.
