Curitiba – Curitiba will host a science and technology meeting

Mayor Rafael Greca received, on Monday (29/8), the President of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC) and former Minister of Education Renato Janine Ribeiro. The meeting was to formalize the city’s support for the 75th annual meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), which will be hosted by the UFPR from July 23-29, 2023.

“It is an honor for me to receive this meeting, the joy of Curitiba. In addition to hosting the event, our city will be a partner in educational, cultural and tourism activities,” declared Greca.

This year’s meeting was held in Brasilia, at the University of Brasilia premises and during the event in the city Curitiba It was presented as the next headquarters.

“Since its inception, Curitiba has hosted our event five times, and now in 2023, after 37 years, we will be back in town,” Ribeiro said.

Science and Technology

The aim of the annual meeting is to discuss public policies on science and technology and to disseminate scientific developments. Founded in 1958, the non-profit civil entity is dedicated to defending the scientific, technological, educational and cultural development of Brazil.

Headquartered in São Paulo, SBPC represents more than 160 affiliated scientific societies and more than 5,000 active members, including researchers, professors, students, and Brazilian citizens interested in science and technology.

In parallel, the SBPC Jovem meeting will be held, which includes the Expotec (Science Fair). With the participation of students and in partnership with Agência Curitiba, an innovation village will be created at Centro Politécnico.
