The Corinthians U17 team qualified for the semi-finals of the Paulista Championship category. This Tuesday, in the second leg of the quarter-finals, in Kanindi, Timão beat Palmeiras on penalties 5-4.
During regular time, Palmeiras won 1-0 with a goal from Antonio Marcos. In the first leg, in Fazendinha, Corinthians fared better, also winning 1-0, so the aggregate score was tied at 1-1, leading to a penalty shootout.
Now, Corinthians join Sao Paulo, Santos and Ferroviaria in the semi-finals of the competition. At this point, Timão will face Tricolor as his opponent.
The first half started a little slow, and little by little Palmeiras took control of the match. However, Corinthians found themselves in the game and started to look more dangerous.
In the 12th minute of the second half, Eric Pele almost opened the scoring for Palmeiras. The boy took a risk from outside the area and hit the left post. Verdau’s team continued to dominate and create good opportunities, but was unable to score.
Palmeiras finally opened the scoring in the 38th minute. Isaac made good individual play on the right side and passed a cross to Antonio Marcos, who headed it powerfully into the goal. A few minutes later, in the 43rd minute, Corinthians hit the crossbar and almost equalised.
