Sony is officially shutting down Firewalk Studios

“Dear team, today I would like to share with you important updates about the future of the Sony Interactive Entertainment business group,” Hermann said.

“We are constantly evaluating our game portfolio and the status of our projects to ensure we meet short- and long-term business priorities. As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen SIE, we have had to make a difficult decision with our studios Neon Koi and Firewalk Studios.

“Expanding beyond PlayStation consoles and creating immersive online experiences alongside our single-player games are areas of focus for us as we grow our revenue streams. However, we must be strategic when bringing our games to new platforms and recognize when they fall short of player expectations.

“(…) With renewed focus, we will be closing Neon Koi and its mobile action game will not be moving forward. I would like to express my gratitude to all of them for their hard work and endless passion for innovation. As for Firewalk, as announced in September, some aspects of Concord were exceptional, but others didn’t sit well with players, and as a result, we retired the game. “We’ve spent a lot of time over the past few months exploring our options.”

“After much deliberation, we have decided that the best course of action is to permanently shut down the game and close the studio. I want to thank Firewalk for their creative spirit and dedication.
