Commander, the Biden family dog, wanders the White House
After attacking White House Secret Service employees and other staff 11 times — instances that were not reported — Commander, the chief German shepherd of the United States, we, Joe Biden“kicked out” from White House. “The Commander is not currently at Casa Braca while upcoming decisions are being evaluated,” Elizabeth Alexander, the first lady’s spokeswoman, said in a brief statement. She added, according to her, that Biden and his wife, Jill, “are very committed to the safety of all White House staff and those who protect them every day.” The commander, who had just returned from a training course, made the news on Wednesday last week when the Secret Service, charged with protecting top US government officials, announced that one of its agents had been bitten on Monday.
The American press reported on Thursday that the German shepherd, who arrived at the White House in 2021 as a puppy, was involved in more biting attacks than is known so far. CNN and Axios reported that in addition to the 11 incidents known so far with Secret Service employees, the dog had attacked other White House employees. The presidential couple had already announced in the summer that the dog would go to a training center, after the press reported several bites, including one that sent the victim to the hospital. Major, another of Biden’s dogs, was also sent for training in Delaware for a period in 2021 after biting at least one White House staffer. Based on the recommendations of experts, the Biden family was finally forced to get rid of the dog and entrust it to friends who live “in a more peaceful environment.”
