The Civil Police of Santa Catarina sent five civilian police officers, two deputies and three police officers to participate in a SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) training course offered by the West Jordan Police Department in West Jordan, Utah, USA.
The group set off on Friday (18th) and started the course this Sunday which will conclude on 1st September. Civil police officers are members of the State Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DEIC) and Coordination of Special Resources (CORE).
According to the General Delegate, Ulisses Gabriel, participation in international courses has a great impact on the organization because these people multiply knowledge.
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of special operations using global best practices in weapons and special tactics. One of the highlights of the course is an updated protocol for individual police response to an active shooter – specifically relevant to working in school settings.
The first part of the course lasts six days, Monday to Saturday, full-time (24 hours). The second part lasts for five days, with eight to 10 hours of activities.
