China to US: ‘We are not afraid of any hegemonic power’

Sputnik Agency – China’s foreign ministry has criticized the US and its Western allies as aimed at intimidating Beijing, saying they have been deterred.

The successful fight against US hegemony is one of the biggest achievements of Chinese diplomacy this year, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday.

Wang sees relations between Beijing and Washington being complicated by the US government’s confrontational approach.

“As the US stubbornly views China as its main rival and takes blatant blockade, repression and provocation measures against China, Sino-US relations plunge into serious complications,” he said.

🇧🇷[…] We are not afraid of any hegemonic power or its persecution, and we are determined to protect China’s core interests and national dignity,” the president said at a seminar on China’s international situation and foreign affairs.

He pointed out that Taiwan is “at the core of China’s fundamental interests” and “the cornerstone of the political foundation of Sino-US relations and a red line that should not be crossed in Sino-US relations”. Beijing’s actions, he asserts, “strongly deterred US anti-China elements and ‘Taiwan independence’ forces, and demonstrated our iron will to protect sovereignty and national security.”

The minister said that Chinese authorities have successfully used the UN platform to gain the support of more than 100 countries to fight the US and its Western allies and protect their national interests.
