China on Wednesday criticized the US role in the Ukraine crisis, accusing the US government of “throwing fuel into the fire”.
“The United States is selling arms to Ukraine, raising tensions and creating panic,” said Hua Chunying, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
“The key question is what role the US plays in the current tensions in Ukraine; Someone throws fuel on fire and blames others, it is immoral and irresponsible“, Said Hua.

Biden announces sanctions against Russia, says invasion of Ukraine has begun
On Monday, Russia recognized two separate parts of eastern Ukraine as independent republics. In response, the US government announced that it would impose sanctions on the Russians.
China responded very calmly to the events in Ukraine: the Chinese government asked the parties to show signs of control.
China says sanctions will not work
Asked if China could impose sanctions on Russia, Hua said, “they have never been an effective way to solve problems.”
On Tuesday (22), the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and other countries announced sanctions against Russia, mainly targeting banks, oligarchs and members of parliament.
These initial sanctions are a reflection of President Vladimir Putin’s decision to recognize the independence of Donetsk and Lukansk.
This is the first round of punitive measures of minor importance compared to the measures taken during the invasion of Ukraine.
More than 14,000 people have been killed so far in eight years of conflict in eastern Ukraine.
