What’s new on Instagram

The goal of the new Instagram functionality is to improve the experience for users of the app. One of the novelties is the so-called “silent mode,” which has appeared to help the productivity of users who can’t afford to ignore app notifications.

In this way, the new tool gives the user the opportunity to specify the times when the application does not send message notifications, tags, gain followers, likes or mentions. Thus, users can focus better on studies or work, for example, without worrying about seeing notifications that have arrived.

Another available tool shows the status of a user’s profile. In this sense, when trying to send a message to someone who has silent mode activated, the user they are trying to contact receives an automatic message informing them that, at that moment, the function has been disabled.

Initially, silent mode will only be available to users in the United States, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Ireland. Any user will have access to the new version, and teens will receive a message reminding them to activate the mode after a certain usage time has been reached in the app.

New application mode

At the same time, a new content recommendation form has also been designed, which makes it possible to hide different types of posts through the Explore tab. To do this, the user must click on the content, and after that, the “Choose More” function will be displayed, so that the user can decide what he intends to see on the platform.

Other than that, another novelty has been provided for post customization: choosing which terms the user wants to hide so that they can’t access them on the go. At this time, it will also be possible to hide certain hashtags or captions. To activate the function, you just need to access the privacy settings and select the terms in the “Hidden Words” section.

The option allows application users to select what they want to consume, as many contents appear as suggestions in the application, which annoys some people who are not interested in certain topics.
