The space will reopen next Tuesday (10th) at 10am.
The Cachoeiro de Itapemirim Campus has restored and applied improvements to the equipment and experiments of the Cachoeiro de Itapemirim Museum of Science and Technology, with the aim of bringing back the culture and education the museum offers to the community. Now, with the experiments underway, the Cachoeiro de Itapimerim City Hall will hold the opening ceremony of the Science and Technology Museum next Tuesday, October 10, the date on which the space celebrates its 10th anniversary. The event will be at 10 a.m., at Rua Moreira, 317, Celle neighborhood. Borges, in Cachoeiro.
This action is part of the project “Renovation of the Museum of Science and Technology of Cachoeiro de Itapimerim-ES”, approved by the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Espírito Santo (FABIS), with the support of the Municipality of Cachoeiro de Itapimerim. . In January 2020, due to heavy rains that fell on the municipality, the Science and Technology Museum’s equipment was damaged by a flood, which affected its operation.
During the project, supervised by Professor Carla Tozetti, 20 pieces of equipment were restored, with the participation of professors Marcelo Chagas, Hilton Kaliman and Wivirthon Lobo and mechanical engineering students Lucas Grifo and Luis Felipe Vargas. For the manufacturing and maintenance phases, existing laboratories on Campus Cachoeiro were used, such as the project laboratory, maker laboratory, and manufacturing and maintenance laboratory. In total, approximately R$50,000 was invested in research and technology extension work related to the project activities.
“Given the number of experiments, this was a major challenge that would not have been possible without the dedication of the scholarship students: Lucas Grifo and Luis Felipe Vargas; the promotion of Fapes, which allowed obtaining the necessary materials to renew the experiments; and the support of the Cachoeiro de Itapimerim City Council, represented by the Special Coordinator For Smart Cities, Anne Kateri Gomez Silva; and the support of AVIS,” highlights project coordinator Professor Carla Tozetti.
“With this initiative we seek to show that science can be fun, as well as benefit students by sharing knowledge and promoting the beautiful attraction of our region,” highlights Ives Cachoeiro Campus Extension Coordinator, Professor Weverthon Lobo.
The project is still ongoing, providing support and maintenance for the equipment delivered until December of this year.
