Cruzeiro striker Caio Jorge revealed how this move caused injury to midfielder Mateus Henrique, Tuesday (8), during the Celestial team’s training at the Toca da Raposa II stadium.

“The training was going smoothly. We were doing a reduced (field) training. He (Mattheus) ended up feeling almost alone, in a movement where he raised his leg,” the striker said.
According to an official statement from Cruzeiro, Matthews injured his quadriceps muscle and will be handed over to the Health and Performance Department. There are no details about the period of absence.
In the same interview, Caio Jorge also made predictions and showed optimism about Matthews’ return to the field.
“I hope he can improve as soon as possible. From my point of view, it was nothing serious, just more discomfort and he will soon be on the field to help us.”
Mateus Henrique was one of the reinforcements appointed by Cruzeiro in the mid-year transfer window. The player’s economic rights were purchased from the Italian club Sassuolo for 6 million euros (about 36 million Brazilian reals) and he signed a contract until June 2029.
