According to Argentina’s president-elect, this strategy was used to annoy him while he spoke
Argentine President-elect Javier Miley said on Tuesday (November 21, 2023) that Brazilian marketers who worked on the campaign of the Minister of Economy and his rival in the presidential elections, Sergio Massa, made people cough during their speeches. In the final election debate on November 12.
“Massa…actually, not Massa, but his Brazilian advisors, had a ‘cough’, precisely to annoy me at the moment I was speaking. When I did my final reflection on the discussion, everyone was coughing together“, Miley said in an interview with the channel A24.
The MP said he spoke with former President Mauricio Macri, who warned him what viewers could and could not hear during the broadcast.
“Macri told me to be careful because I’m actually listening to what’s happening, but since there are no microphones on the other side, people can’t hear. So someone maliciously said I heard voices“, Miley said, noting that people use these situations to treat him like “crazy“.
Also according to Miley, Macri said something similar happened when he spoke in the House of Representatives. “His mic was on and everyone else’s mic wasn’t, so if he responded or said things, he would look crazy.“
The last presidential debate in Argentina was broadcast live Power360 On November 12th.
