The airports of Curitiba / Afonso Pena, in São José dos Peñas (PR), and Viracopos, in Campinas (SP), were among the top ten airports evaluated in the rating of quality values of 132 air terminals around the world in terms of the month of May. Humberto Delgado Station, in Lisbon, Portugal, was last in the same rating.
The person in charge of the arrangement is AirHelp, a German company that provides legal services to travelers around the world. The ranking is based exclusively on the evaluation of travelers who give their opinion of punctuality, food, shops and airport services in general.
Of the 10 possible points, Curitiba Airport scored 8.37 and was fourth. Viracopos added 8.25 and ranks 10th. In contrast, the airport in the Portuguese capital received an overall rating of 5.76 points. The Brazilian airport with the worst rating was the international airport of São Paulo, in Guarulhos, with a score of 7.76 and 45th place.
For the evaluation, the most important criterion was punctuality, which is responsible for 60% of the points. Other criteria analyzed were service quality (20% of points) and quality of retail-food and stores (20% of points).
Other major airports in the world also ranked poorly in the survey. Among the ten worst airport infrastructures in the world, AirHelp reports that eight are located on the European continent: Lisbon, Eindhoven, Bucharest, Malta, Manchester, Paris, Porto and London.
In the first places, Hamad International Airport, in Doha, Qatar, was chosen as the best airport in the world, with an overall score of 8.39 out of 10. It is followed by Tokyo International Airport, in Tokyo, Japan, with a score of 8.38 points, and Athens International Airport, in Athens, Greece, Also at 8.38.
Viracopos comments on the result
According to Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos franchisor, an overall score of 8.25 consists of a score of 8.4 for punctuality, 8.2 for service quality and 7.9 for retail quality.
This honor now adds to another significant achievement this year by Viracopos Airport, which was voted for the third time, the best airport in Brazil in the Aviação + Brasil survey by the Civil Aviation Administration (SAC). Viracopos’ Director of Operations, Marcelo Motta, also highlighted the importance of the AirHelp survey. “The survey demonstrates once again that Viracopos is on the right track, which is to promote continuous improvements in providing services to our customers.”
