Gabigol is under contract with Flamengo until December of this year
Gabigol has been effectively ruled out by Flamengo for 2025, and could renew his contract with the club. At least that’s the opinion of Red and Black FA Vice President Markus Braz. According to the manager, the scenario for the striker, who is under contract until December, may change after Filipe Luis takes charge of the team after Tite’s departure.
— There are points we need to analyze. I’m sure Gabigol wants to stay, he hasn’t signed with any team yet. If he doesn’t also tell Flamengo that they don’t want him, it leaves a gap to analyze that Flamengo wants to get the player. However, in a certain situation where you need to make any possible adjustments regarding the financial part – Marcos Braz answered in an interview with journalist Raisa Simplicio.
— It’s that thing, no one wants to unplug it. The couple quarrels, but no one wants to separate, and no one has the courage to separate. This is what happens. Of course, with Filipe Luis, you have a new air, a new direction, which makes us see that we need to renew our contract. – Braz said.
What Marcus Braz actually said about Gabigol
Marcos Praz’s statement came after Flamengo’s victory over Bahia in the Brazilian League, which was held in Salvador last Saturday (05). It is interesting that after the victory of the red and black over the Bahian team, on September 12, but in the Brazilian Cup, the manager said that Gabigol’s renewal was “unlikely.” So the scenario may change for No. 99 with Filipe Luis.
— Now, contracts are being systematically renewed and extended within the club. It happens to academy players and others. At some point, you have the option to renew your contract. In the current situation it is not impossible, but unfortunately today it is unlikely – Braz commented on September 12.
Gabigol’s contractual situation
Gabigol is under contract with Flamengo until December of this year. Rubro-Negro sent out an offer of a one-year renewal, with a salary increase. However, the player did not accept, unhappy with the short deadline of the offer. The striker plans to spend at least three more years at the club. Furthermore, Gabriel sees this as “inappropriate treatment” by Rubro-Negro towards the idol.
Since the arrival of Filipe Luis, Gabigol has started in both matches. The striker played 86 minutes against Corinthin the Brazilian Cup semi-final, and another 75 minutes against Bahia, in the 29th minutethe Round of the Brazilian League. The 99 shirt displays the sequence and should be a starter on October 17 vs Fluminensefor the Brazilian Championship.
