“The Scientist Returns to School” is the name of the project implemented by the Municipality of Braga, in partnership with Native Scientist, to bring scientists and students closer together, and to return researchers to the schools in which they studied. On Friday, EB1 of Panoias and Garapôa was visited by scientists who held science workshops in order to encourage a taste for science among the younger ones.
“This is a stimulating project for students as it promotes intergenerational encounters and brings back former students to the school who are now professionals in the field of science. The school is a strong link between the student and the world and I am sure this initiative will bring More familiarity with the field of science, stressing that this sharing of experiences “can be crucial for first-year final year children who are going to start a new academic stage.”
The World Back to School has about 60 EB students in Panoias, Garapôa and Tebosa. The educational community of these educational institutions receives scholars from Braga, Sandra Carvalho, João Carlos Henriques and Sofia Ferreira. At EB1 in Tebessa, the scientific workshop will take place on April 24th.
This is an educational program that encourages scientists to return to their first stage schools to conduct science workshops with fourth grade students. The main objective of this project is to contribute to the promotion of culture and scientific literacy in Portugal and, at the same time, to dismantle stereotypes regarding scientists.
