Considered one of the most relevant animal advocacy groups in the US, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, in Portuguese) gave one of those calls to Rihanna shortly after the singer was photographed donning a fur coat upon arriving for a night home in Los Angeles, days ago. The photo, like everything about Rihanna, has gone viral around the world.
The NGO sent a model similar to the original, but in faux leather, and asked her to change her wardrobe. “As a mother, you know how it feels to be protected and you want to make sure your family doesn’t come to any harm. Please understand that this desire — even this instinct — is shared by foxes and rabbits that have been torn from their families and killed,” says an excerpt from the letter, signed by Lisa Lange, deputy Head of PETA.
She continues, “Wouldn’t you please help create a kinder world for your children to grow up in by deciding today that you will no longer wear fur?” The new coat the singer was sent was, according to Lisa, so Rihanna could be “warm and fashionable while switching it up in a human way.” The artist, the star of this year’s Super Bowl show, had not commented to her networks as of this posting.
