Bannon has made it clear he will act. “Trump should report what’s happening and not leave people in the dark. And say where the votes are. We’re not ready to see a repeat of 2020,” the strategist said, in an alleged reference to Democrats rigging the vote. But this did not happen and the elections were duly approved.
Bannon refused to accept the result. “The 2020 election was stolen. I want to protect the will of the people,” he said.
Bannon presented himself as a “political prisoner,” described Joe Biden’s government as a “system” and, in a vulgar manner, told the authorities who arrested him to “suck it up.”
The news conference had to be interrupted when someone stood up to ask a question and asked, “When is the next insurrection,” referring to Bannon’s role in the invasion of the Capitol. He was removed from the scene.
Bannon also opened the way to pointing to a potential crisis, noting that some states may take days to count the votes. “This doesn’t mean Trump can’t come out and explain,” the strategist said, adding that the arrest did not “break him.” “I’m stronger,” he said.
Without evidence, Bannon also suggested that it was the appointment of lawyers by Democrats that indicated there was an attempt to rig the election. “Why do they hire lawyers?” he asked.
