Bandits steal R$480,000 worth of French bulldog puppies from a pet store; video

Four thieves stole 12 French bulldogs from a pet store in Gardena, California, US this week. According to the foundation, the value of the puppies is $100,000, or about 480,000 Brazilian reals. In addition to the animals, they also took the money that was in the cash register, amounting to approximately R$9,700.

Security camera footage shows the gang placing the cages with the animals inside a truck. The theft occurred in the early hours of Tuesday (21), at the Top Dog Pet Store, located in the 2500 block of Rosecrans Avenue, in Gardena.

Upon entering the building, an alarm was triggered and the animals began barking uncontrollably. Despite the noise, they entered the place, took the cages, and put them in the car.

At one point, one of the criminals pushes the cage onto one of the animals and another throws the dogs into the car, angering animal protection associations. Among the dogs taken was a show dog named “Roll X.”

“They literally grabbed them and threw them in the truck like stuffed animals,” Andres Avalos, the owner of the looted store, said in an interview with the New York Post. He adds: “It’s terrible. The robbery only took a few minutes.”

Avalos said he’s concerned about the cubs’ safety, which is why he’s offering a reward to anyone who can help locate them. “We love our animals,” he added. “It’s very frustrating to know they’re out there and we can’t do anything about it.”

According to the New York Post, there has been a spate of French bulldog thefts in the USA – with the animals costing between R$14,600 and R$44,000 in the country.

Gardena police said they were investigating the theft. So far no one has been arrested.
