Banco Pan confirmed on Friday (15) that it had recently discovered a “vulnerability” in the technology provider’s platform, used in the card chip customer service center, that allowed customer information to be leaked.
This allowed, according to the financial institution, the unauthorized copying of registration data, available limit and debt balance “without disclosing full card data, passwords or any data with direct financial risks to the customer and the bank.”
The number of customers exposed was not reported. The financial institution, according to its press office, has about 17 million active customers.
It was also possible to check, according to information from Banco Pan, “there was no current account settlement, no system availability, or invasion of the bank’s infrastructure”.
The bank also said that security protocols have been activated, that the software company has been notified to “immediately fix the vulnerability and we have enlisted the advice of independent experts to perform a full analysis.”
“We confirm that information security is our priority, and all relevant authorities have been notified,” the foundation added.
In response to a reporter’s question, the central bank did not comment on the matter until the latest update of this report.
