The Copa del Rey final begins next Sunday between Atletico MG and Atletico PR. A showdown would put two teams, in the recent past, accustomed to playing the tournament final head-to-head.
In the past 10 years, this will be the third final for each team – along with Cruzeiro and Palmeiras, they are the clubs most involved in the decisions of the Copa del Rey in this period.
The finals are scheduled for December 12 and 15. The first match will take place in Mineirao and the second in Arena da Baixada.
Interestingly, the teams have an equal track record in finals: each team has a title and runner-up. In addition to seeking a second title in the competition, the teams are also aiming for a prize money of R$56 million.
Minas played in the finals of 2014 and also in 2016. In the first opportunity, Gallo was a champion against Cruzeiro, and in the second brawl he lost to Grêmio.
