Atlético: Marcio Resende’s comment on a goal ruled out by VAR against Gremio

Arbitration Analyst ItatiaMarcio Resende de Freitas commented on Atlético’s disallowed goal in a 1-0 defeat by Gremio on Saturday (22). Alan Kardec scored in the 38th minute of the second half, but the VAR canceled out a move that would have given Atlético the equaliser.

“Offside, it must have told the Hulk that Kardec’s knee was in front. Because when they drew the lines, it was the shoulder of the Grêmio defender, because they pass very quickly, and the red line was placed on Kardec’s knee. Hence, the obstruction was introduced,” said Marcio Rezende, while transferring Itatia.

Hulk said that the referee, Luis Flavio de Oliveira, told him that the Alvinegro striker’s elbow caused the offside situation and complained about the tagging. Marcio Resende continued the analysis and confirmed his confidence in VAR.

“I don’t question the VAR, because it was something that was always much needed. It’s very well calibrated, according to the CBF, there’s no error there, the lines are horizontal and vertical, to see a little further, closer to the final score, where offside is marked. So, we can’t question that. All teams go through this.”

“I can’t question the VAR. In the eye, there is one thing, in VAR, VAR is there for that, it’s the hair,” he finished.
