Ubisoft has explained that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will require an online connection, even in the physical version, but only to complete the installation process.
Similar to what happened in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and will happen in Star Wars: Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will also require an online connection before you can start playing it for the first time.
However, Ubisoft does know that after the initial installation process is complete, you’ll be able to play offline:
“Assassin’s Creed Shadows does not have a permanent internet connection. An online connection will be required to install the game, but you will be able to play the entire journey offline and explore Japan without any online connection.”

Ubisoft has revealed the first information about Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is now available for pre-order in digital stores on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
Through the game pages in digital stores, you can read that Ubisoft warns of the necessity of connecting to the Internet, even though it is a single-player game.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will arrive on November 15 as a single-player RPG that takes you to Feudal Japan, but Ubisoft will require you to be constantly connected to its servers.
At the moment, no official details have been shared about the existence of the single-player Battle Pass, which was revealed by unofficial sources, but the requirement to constantly connect to the servers may help in understanding the existence of this requirement.
