Actress Anya Taylor-Joy, 25, known for starring in The Queen’s Gambit (Netflix), said in an interview with actress Drew Barrymore, on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” that she left school at 16 years old. after being bullied.
She also said that she was raised in Argentina until she was six years old, and then moved with her parents to London, where she lived out most of her dramas. Despite the difficult stage, the actress said she had the support of her parents:
“I was very, very lucky with my father, because when I felt attacked because of my appearance, my mother would always tell me to always look inside people. You look inside someone, not what they look like, you ignore everything else. It doesn’t matter what a person does for them.” For a living, it’s just a matter of his heart.”
“I have to thank my mother because she really helped me a lot,” he added.
Anya also indicated that her difficulties were due to moving to the UK:
“Argentina was all green, and there were horses and animals around me. Suddenly I was in a big city and didn’t speak the language. I felt out of place. I was too English to be Argentine and too Argentine to be English” he said.
“The kids didn’t understand me at all,” he said. “They used to lock me up in cupboards.”
That’s when I decided, at the age of 16, to drop out of school. At the age of 14, she received an offer to work as a model, and two years later she received an invitation to work in “A Bruxa”.
“Prone to fits of apathy. Problem solver. Twitter buff. Wannabe music advocate.”
