The third fight of the night at Spaten Fight Night put two Olympic medalists head-to-head. Esquiva Falcao, silver medalist at London 2012, faced Hebert Conceição, Olympic champion at Tokyo 2020. A confrontation with anger heightened by provocations in the days leading up to the duel.
After initial moments of study, the fighters increased their pace and provided good moments of exchange, with both taking the initiative. As expected, the fight was very technical, and when one athlete threatened to take over the fight, the opponent responded and evened out the dispute. On some occasions, Hibbert tried to destabilize his opponent with movement and some provocation, but given his experience, Esquiva did not fall into his opponent’s game.
Hibbert exerted pressure in the second half of the fourth round and almost succeeded in knocking out his opponent. Esquiva fought back and stayed in the fight. In the next round, Talib Luiz Doria maintained his dominance, but his opponent continued to contest, trying to fight back.
After the scare, Eskiva brought the fight back into balance from the sixth round onwards, but Hibbert gained the advantage with good movement and good strikes, thwarting his opponent’s attempts to fight back.
The fight came to a decision and Hebert Conceição won by unanimous decision of the judges (97-93, 97-92 and 98-91), achieving the title of Brazilian champion.
