AGU forms a team to strengthen the implementation of public policies in the field of science, technology and innovation – Prosecutor General of the Union

Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) projects of federal public bodies and institutions will now be monitored by a specialized team, whose role is to accelerate the implementation of partnerships and other initiatives related to the topic.

Implemented a month ago, the National Team for Science, Technology and Innovation (e-CT&I) of the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (PGF), a body subordinate to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (AGU), was created with the aim of providing advice and legal support. Advising approximately 118 entities of indirect public administration, along with federal prosecutors’ offices as well as scientific, technological and innovation (ICT) institutions.

Among the planned actions is the unification of interpretations of the Legal Framework for Science, Technology and Innovation (MLCTI), established by Law No. 13243/2016 and regulated by Decree No. 9283 of 2018. In addition to legal advice to managers and researchers at the institutions served, the team will conduct advisory analyses. Legal security

According to the PGF, the establishment of the specialized team is a request from the scientific community itself. The group currently consists of federal prosecutors working at the Federal Universities of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the Federal Institute of Ceará (IFCE) and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), selected by the notorious legal know-how in the scientific field .

Federal prosecutors’ offices and federal public authorities and institutions may request service through e-CT&I, as long as certain requirements are met, both by the prosecutor’s offices and the entities advised. Regarding these matters, they need, for example, to implement an innovation policy, create a nucleus for technological innovation, and use legal instruments and checklists of measures recommended by the Forum.
