US President Joe Biden said at a rally on Friday (12) that he was “attacked” by the press because he “sometimes” mixes up names. He referred to the mistakes he made on Thursday (11) during a NATO meeting and at a press conference.
Biden’s speech on Friday was again delivered with the aid of a teleprompter — meaning the president read the lines to the audience. He recalled comments about his debate performance against Trump in late June.
“You may have noticed that since the debate, the press has been attacking me. I make a lot of mistakes. Everything is fine. They attack me because I sometimes mix up names.”
Biden then said Trump had a “free pass,” and that the former president also mixes up names, as in the episode in which he called Republican Nikki Haley Nancy Pelosi, a Democratic congresswoman.
Biden lamented, “When that butcher Putin invaded Ukraine, Trump called him ‘genius’ and ‘brilliant.’ But people would rather talk about how I mixed up names.”
Biden made it clear that he would not abandon his voters and that he would defeat Trump in the presidential election scheduled for next November. The Democrat again said that he is the party’s nominee.
“I’m the only Democrat who has ever beaten Donald Trump. And I’ll beat him again. I know him. Donald Trump is a loser,” he said.
During his speech, the president commented on positive figures from his administration, and said that his project for the US economy has the approval of experts. Biden took the opportunity to direct a series of criticisms at the policies adopted by the Trump administration.
Once again, the Democrat justified that he needed to be re-elected to finish the work he started as president of the United States. He also insisted that he was in good health and joked about his age.
“I know I look 40, but I’m a little older. As age slowly advances, so does wisdom. I know how to tell the truth, I know what’s right, I know how to do this job, and I know that the United States wants a president, not a dictator,” he added.
