It’s no news to see how hard developers are working to contain the spread of cheaters in their online games. After 9 long years, Rockstar has released a new update for the game GTA 5 which adds anti-cheat to the online mode.
Although the developer has not officially announced the implementation of this new tool, the anti-cheat tool chosen is BattlEye, the same one used in games like PUBG: Battlegrounds, Rainbow Six Siege, and many more.
GTA 5 Online receives anti-cheat system
New feature discovered by user TexFunz2 on X shared a screenshot of the SteamID patch notes for GTA 5 on PC.
For those unfamiliar, BattlEye provides an extra layer of protection for games, monitoring any suspicious activity while the game is running. If the system detects the use of any cheating software or command, the user will be automatically banned.
Unfortunately, it is not yet known whether this system will be effective enough to contain the spread of cheaters in the game. However, Fans can rest easy, as Rockstar intends to do everything it can to prevent cheaters in Grand Theft Auto Online.
