If you’re thinking of traveling to Italy with your partner, we have a new tip on how to make that tour even more special! Via dell’Amore, or Path of Love, has reopened to the public after more than 10 years in Cinque Terre, about an hour and a half from the Italian region of Genoa.
Gravity reopening in Italy
Considered the most romantic trail in the world, Vie dell’Amore is a popular hiking stretch for visitors to Cinque Terre, and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The road was closed to the public after a landslide in 2012 and now, more than a decade later, it is open again, especially for couples looking for fond memories.
Previously, the path of love was open to everyone, free of charge. However, the pass is now only accessible by guided tour. The entrance fee is 5 euros, about R$30 at today’s exchange rate, which entitles you to appreciate the entire surreal scenario in about a half-hour walk.
Along the way, your guide explains the history while you take in the views of the Ligurian Sea. The trail allows for great photos to be taken along the way due to the location, making your trip even more memorable.
The Road of Love, in the Portuguese translation, is one of the main attractions on the coast of Italy and has gained a romantic reputation because at the time it was built, in the mid-1920s, it served as a hideout for young lovers.
