Aerosmith donates emergency vehicles to help hurricane victims

Aerosmith donated two 2023 Chevrolet Silverado trucks to the Red Cross in Florida, United States, after two tornadoes were recently recorded.

The vehicles are scheduled to be delivered in the first quarter of 2023, according to a press release from the group.

Joe Perry, the guitarist and founder of Aerosmith, lives in Sarasota, Florida, and said in a statement that he and his bandmates were “devastated by the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Ian.”

“We see these disasters increasing in frequency and severity due to climate change. So having a strong Red Cross is more important than ever. We are proud to support it and know that these vehicles will be an important tool to help those in need in the coming years. Years,” the text says. .

Tom Hamilton, the band’s guitarist, added that his loved ones were directly affected by the damage from Hurricane Ian, which hit Florida in late September.

“My family owns a little place in the area that was hit hard by Ian. We’ve been going there every year for almost 30 years. Our home has been badly damaged and so have our hearts. We know other people have been affected even more. I’m so grateful to be able We want to contribute to helping people get their lives back to normal. We made it through Charlie, and we’re going to get through this,” he said.

The Aerosmith donation comes at a time when Red Cross emergency vehicles are being used as shelters and medical aid stations.

Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida on Sept. 28 as an “extremely dangerous” Category 4 storm with winds of 150,000 miles per hour, knocking out power to more than 2.5 million homes.

It was later estimated that Ian killed at least 119 people, according to The New York Times.

Earlier this month, Tropical Storm Nicole made landfall in the Bahamas before reaching Florida as a Category 1 hurricane. It was later downgraded to a tropical storm.

Officials said earlier that at least five people died in the storm, including two who were electrocuted.
