Fatigue can be a common symptom among physical educators and people who exercise frequently. However, for 22-year-old American Lee Troutman, who had this kind of routine, it was burnout that revealed a much bigger problem: cancer.

In another round of tests, doctors discovered HLH (hemolytic lymphohistiocytosis), a type of immune system reaction that can cause organs to shut down, as well as NHL (non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma), a type of cancer that also affects the immune system. . From the body’s immunity.
However, Troutman’s condition was serious and extended to his brain, spine, liver, ribs and hips.
Today, Troutman is in remission from cancer and undergoes regular checkups and checkups.

He told the British newspaper “Daily Mail”: “My mother and I found a doctor who agreed to take on my case – he gave me hope of a 5% chance of survival. He said that if I survived the lymphoma and the strong treatments against the lymphoma, I would still be alive.” “. If you have cancer, you will need a bone marrow transplant. After that, I will have a 70% chance of survival.”
About to undergo a bone marrow transplant, Troutman had two collapsed lungs, was placed on mechanical ventilation and fed through a gastric tube. After the ventilators were removed, the young man had to undergo months of rehabilitation to regain his weight, while undergoing chemotherapy, until he was strong enough to undergo surgery.
He estimates he performed at least 50 platelet transfusions during that period.
In May 2022, Troutman was finally able to undergo a bone marrow transplant. After the operation, the young man underwent quarantine for another 200 days and took about 63 types of medications daily to prevent rejection.
