A study places Brazil in eighth place among the scariest countries to drive

Study of the British site Compare junk cars I identified countries where tourists feel most nervous when driving. On the list, India stands out as the scariest destination, with an average score of 7.15, followed by Venezuela and Zimbabwe. Brazil ranks eighth with a score of 6.71.

The survey, which included two thousand drivers from ten countries, asked them to rate their level of stress when driving on a scale of one to ten. Drivers have expressed concerns, such as driving on the other side of the road and local driving habits, that add to anxiety.

Among the most stressful countries, India was cited for its chaotic and unpredictable traffic, with streets filled with cars, motorbikes and even animals.

In the rankings, countries from Asia, Africa and South America dominate the top positions, while no European country appears in the top ten, although Hungary, Italy and Greece are mentioned as places where drivers feel the most anxiety.

In contrast, the Netherlands is considered the quietest country to drive, with a score of 4.41, due to its well-maintained roads. The UK comes in 26th, with an average of 5.71, reflecting challenges such as one-way traffic.

The main causes of stress when driving abroad include anxiety about the side of the road, other drivers’ reckless driving, and the possibility of violating traffic laws.

David Cotton, Director of Operations at Scrap Car Comparison, stressed the importance of preparation before driving in a new country.

He suggested drivers research local traffic laws and use navigation apps to reduce anxiety. For those feeling overwhelmed, public transportation is a recommended alternative, always prioritizing safety.
