The director said that the subway sequence was very difficult to put into action, as they couldn’t shoot on a real location and needed to put together a very convincing script that could lose the production budget (about US$35 million).

“The subway scene was very challenging. It could cost us dearly. We talked about it a lot. Thirty percent of the pre-production were thinking, ‘How do we create this subway scene?’ There were a few moments we thought about cutting that sequence out of the movie.” But we didn’t want to give it up.”

He continues, “The end result shows just how amazing our team is. Everyone worked together to figure out how we could shoot that scene; how we could create something that looked like it was moving. We had to go through all the departments, and they all did their best. When we got to the final set, we reacted This is really like a subway station. I feel in New York. This is exactly what we wanted. It didn’t feel like a group. It felt like a real site.”
