Active on social media, Dingo shares his experiences with animals with his followers. More than 645,000 followers follow the posts on Instagram. On YouTube, Dingo describes his personal channel as “wildlife content that will bring some of the most iconic and dangerous animals into your living room.” In most of the content published online, dingoes manipulate venomous snakes and conduct experiments on various animals.
A passion for wild animals ran deep in the South African’s household. Dingo left behind three children, two girls and one boy. In the family profile, the children are shown with crocodiles and snakes, sharing their father’s passion. “We are a South African family who love animals with all our hearts!” The description on Instagram says. Dingo’s children, Taylor, Maddie and Rex, keep collections of videos and photos with the animals in their personal files.
The family runs an “animal sanctuary” in South Africa. Dingo Farm and Reptile Park, in KwaZulu-Natal, houses several species of animals, such as rabbits, parrots, cows, spiders, snakes, goats and crocodiles. In addition to live shows with snakes, the park provides mediated interaction between visitors and animals.
Dingo was known as “South Africa’s Steve Irwin”. The title was in honor of the Australian known as the “Crocodile Hunter”, who died at the age of 44. Like Dinkelman, Irwin has spent his career dealing with dangerous species. In 2006, while swimming off the coast of Australia while filming a documentary, Irwin approached a stingray in an attempt to record the animal, which attacked him in behavior that experts at the time considered self-defense. Irwin received “hundreds of blows” to his chest within a few seconds, according to the photographer who accompanied him at the scene, and he was unable to resist the injuries to his heart as a result of the attack.
