Taking advantage of strong winds, a Polish airline set a record for a flight between the United States and Europe. The record was broken on the night of October 31 to November 1 by a Boeing 787 of LOT Polish Airlines, on the Newark-Warsaw route.
In some parts of the flight, the plane’s speed on the ground reached 665 knots, equivalent to 1,230 km/h. This was all thanks to the wind currents that were present that day, which literally pushed the 787-8.
As a result, the plane arrived more than an hour earlier than expected, completing the route in 6 hours and 55 minutes, while the expected time was 8 hours and 10 minutes. This was the fastest flight between the United States and Poland ever made by a commercial airliner, and also the fastest flight across the Atlantic Ocean over that distance or its equivalent.
