In the wake of the incident, Cova said that a draft law allowing the eradication of bears “inside and outside city limits” would be implemented across the country.

“A bill on constitutional authority will soon be introduced. It will include a provision authorizing the eradication of bears inside and outside the city limits. We cannot limit the discussion to the city limits only, because the issue at hand concerns the bear population as a whole and it is very large,” the Undersecretary said. “Another major issue is that the bears have changed their behavior.”
